Meet Lee, our Field Technician; a kiwi by heritage and a former member of the military. Lee has an impressive list of hobbies including Paragliding, Scuba Diving and anything else that involves an intense shot of adrenalin, we are grateful to have Lee on our team. With two degrees under his belt, Lee is capable of a heavy workload and is willing to get stuck in with whatever needs done. As a field technician Lee will be there to assist during the installation of your connection and getting you up and running!
After making the move from city life to country and a spot of home renovation, Abbie got stuck into her role as our Marketing Manager. With a background in Arts Marketing and a love of all things crafty, Abbie has developed a keen eye for which router packaging would make a good arts and crafts activity. Muddy kids and husband in tow, you will often spot her out and about East Lothian of a weekend. With a passion for both marketing and people, Abbie is the perfect person to head up our marketing team.
Ben can solve a computer issue in minutes that would take you and I a couple of hours. He is our Network Technician. He configures, maintains and monitors all the technical equipment. Originally, Ben studied Interactive Media and Web Design, but now is an expert on all things tech. With a background that includes making fabulous latte art designs, Ben is an irreplaceable member of our team.
Patrick holds the role of Chairperson within a growing Lothian Broadband team. With an impressive travel resume and the ability to fluently speak French and Chinese, it’s no surprise Patrick has the knowledge and skills to see a small business like Lothian Broadband grow to its full potential. Alongside 3 dogs, guinea fowl, quails and a selection of unorthodox ducks, Patrick is a vibrant and forward-thinking member of the community and is entirely vital to the team.
Jen is our office Gem. As Resources Coordinator she works to ensure that the office keeps a relaxed and happy atmosphere for the team. Having spent most of her childhood growing up in Midlothian, it’s no surprise Jen is a well networked kinda girl. Jen tends to spend a lot of her time Scottish Rallying as an accredited rally marshal - a questionable choice of hobby, especially over winter! Jen is as organised as it gets; 7 notebooks at the same time - no problem. She keeps the flow of the office moving and makes sure nothing falls through the net.
As Network Technician, Thom handles and oversees day-to-day queries and support from our customers. Thom is the enthusiastic voice you will hear over the phone if you ever have any questions. Originally from Leeds and a complete book worm, Thom's energy keeps the team smiling.
Angus is a constant reminder that we should all spend more time outside, with such an active outdoors lifestyle he yields well to the job specification of Operations Manager. Angus is a forward-thinking, 'can do, will do' guy! He ensures that the physical construction of the network and installations follow through to exact specifics. Every office needs a man like Angus to keep things moving and keep positive work flowing.
Realising her true calling mid-career, our graphic designer Sally is a creative mastermind. From designing new websites to adding her artistic touch to flyers, Sally is as in demand as it gets. Originating from the of Isle of Mull, Humbie is ‘city’ life in comparison. Sally ensures the essential cherry is on the top of every aspect of Lothian Broadband's Marketing cake.
Jamie, our operations expert, is often found half way up a ladder sporting a pair of shorts, whatever the weather. He doesn’t hold back on his humour and when he's not cracking 'hilarious' jokes, he’s participating in a multitude of activities from cubs to rugby. A family man with a wonderfully varied employment history, Jamie is the friendly face of Lothian Broadband ensuring all customers are delighted with their new broadband. He's the man for the job, regardless of what the job might be!
Originally from New Zealand, our Managing Director has been involved with Lothian Broadband from the beginning. A team player, he picks up the tab for staff bacon rolls (every Friday at 10am if anyone else is interested). Nic is no stranger to the countryside and alongside 2 kids and Labrador, Bramble, he keeps a busy family routine. He is passionate about going the extra mile for Lothian Broadband customers and his commitment to ensuring those in rural areas receive city broadband speeds is commendable.
Norrie is usually seen running silly distances, usually to burn off the previously mentioned Friday morning bacon roll, around East Lothian accompanied by tech dog, Digby. The rest of us should take note. A keen dancer, community enthusiast and East Linton man, Norrie brings a wealth of experience to the table when it comes to seeing the network architecture through to its absolute potential.
Liz has long ensured that every customer receives great customer service, Liz is an exceptional member of our staff. Beyond her career, Liz won the “Volunteer Youth Worker of the Year Award” in 2012 - we should all probably take some notes from Liz! With a background as varied as PA/Journalist/Advertising and Editor, Liz capably takes on many roles within the team.
A connoisseur of restaurants, our Customer Relations Manager, Julie, has a complex knowledge of building customer relations and impressive restaurant reservations. Mother of one energetic daughter, she balances a hectic family life while managing to keep a professional, outgoing and friendly manner at work. Julie has recently moved to rural Midlothian to enjoy the pleasures of countryside living. Julie is responsible for the customer experience from the moment they inquire to the moment they are installed. We'd be lost without her!
Essential to both the sales and the marketing team, there is never a dull moment for busy Nicola. Leaving education far behind her in the Scottish Borders, Nicola is inspiringly well-travelled. Managing to visit 27 countries by the time she hit 20. We are delighted her feet have now stopped itching long enough for her settle down and join the Lothian Broadband team. A natural people person with incredible motivation and organisation skills, she is a great asset to our sales and marketing team.
After returning from Hawaii in 2002, Ian was astonished to find broadband was unavailable in East Lothian; this was the start of his community broadband endeavour. These days, with super computer-like simulation software in hand, Ian assesses the technical and overall development of any new initiatives. With degrees in Physics and English Law, and registered as a Chartered Engineer, Ian is an accomplished and expertly qualified Director to have.
With such a knowledgeable background in Politics, David’s input in the company is vital. Not a policy passes unnoticed and not a report goes unread when it’s on David’s watch. Going between school and Lothian Broadband, David switches the classroom whiteboard for conferences and keeps the team educated and clued-up!
